Botswana’s first locally-owned Subscription-based Video on Demand
(SVoD) platform, UPICtv was the main sponsor for the Creative Business Luncheon with
Connie Ferguson, which was held at Phakalane Golf Estate, Gaborone, on
14 May 2022. The luncheon aimed to bring together the local creative
industry and offer them a mentorship opportunity with the seasoned and
accomplished actor and creative industry entrepreneur.

UPICtv is a product of Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet), that was launched
in October 2020 with the mandate of empowering and commercialising
Botswana’s storytellers. The platform offers local content producers and actors
the opportunity to showcase their work to large audiences locally and
internationally, thereby creating exposure for local talent well beyond the
Botswana borders.

To date, UPICtv platform is made up of 60% local content; and also aggregates
local radio and TV stations. UPICtv stands to be one of the key drivers of
Botswana’s digital transformation strategy and a strategic partner in driving the
creative economy strategy and job creation, especially among the youth.
UPICtv is proud to be associated with the Creative Business Luncheon and the
impact that it will have on the creatives in Botswana. The brand is committed
to continue offering opportunities to local creators to develop and excel to
international standard.
