Manyana Village – Heinsite Construction (Pty) Ltd, a 100% citizen-owned construction
company, successfully celebrated the ground-breaking of the 37.5-kilometre Moshupa-
Manyana road construction project on Wednesday, 2 October 2024. The ceremony was
officiated by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric
Keabetswe Masisi. The event was graced by Honourable Eric Molale, Minister of Public
Works and Transport, Honourable Karabo Gare, along with other senior government
officials, local authorities, and members of the media.
Awarded by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, this project aims to strengthen
infrastructure and regional connectivity. The project involves the construction of a 33.5 km
main road linking Moshupa and Manyana, alongside a 0.25 km access road to the Manyana
Kgotla. It also includes the development of two bridges, culverts, side drains, bus stops, road
signs, and road markings.

Mr. Mokowe, Operations Manager of Heinsite Construction, reiterated the importance of
infrastructure for economic progress. He said, “Infrastructure is the backbone of economic
growth and community development. This road will not only connect the communities of
Moshupa and Manyana, but it will also create new opportunities for local businesses,
improve mobility, and provide greater access to essential services. Reliable infrastructure
powers businesses, connects workers to jobs, and enables citizens to access healthcare,
education, and other vital resources. This is not just a road project, but a long-term
investment in the development and prosperity of the region."
In line with Botswana's Vision 2036, this project is also expected to contribute to regional
integration, future-proofing the country's infrastructure. Provisions for service sleeves will
be made during the construction process, ensuring that future utility installations can be
easily accommodated.

The Moshupa-Manyana road project is scheduled for completion within 18 months and is
expected to play a significant role in facilitating the movement of goods, services, and
people in the region. This project will contribute to Vision 2036's goal of an export-led
economy by enhancing transportation networks, which are key to competitiveness and
attracting investment.
