The partnerships come in support of the Bank’s ethos of putting the dreams and aspirations of staff at the forefront, for empowered colleagues are even better able to deliver exceptional experiences for clients. The strategic partnerships see a world of possibilities to truly prepare Bank staff for the future world of working.

Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of People and Culture, Chedza Balopi said, “The future world of work requires future-fit employees. The demand for new and nuanced professionals is on a sharp incline and those without requisite skills will be left behind – we cannot allow this to happen; we will not allow this to happen. This is one more step in that direction, for these new platforms offer refreshed views on learning in the future and how one can position themselves in their careers.”

Coursera was founded in 2012 by Stanford University Computer Science professors Andrew Ng & Daphne Koller. The company is now one of the largest online learning platforms in the world, with 97 million registered learners as of December 31, 2021. Coursera partners with over 250 leading university and industry partners including Harvard, Google, IBM, Yale and the University of Michigan, to offer a broad catalog of content and credentials, including courses, Specializations, Professional Certificates, Guided Projects, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Institutions around the world use Coursera to upskill and reskill their employees, citizens, and students in fields such as data science, technology, and business. All courses are taught by real teachers and are designed for lifelong learners who want to achieve specific skills or career goals.

Coursera Vice President of EMEA, Anthony Tattersall said, “Technological change is outpacing human adaptability. To adjust we need to engage in smarter learning, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. We are thrilled to be partnering with Stanbic Bank Botswana, helping them equip their teams with the skills to innovate faster and accelerate business transformation, for long-term growth and success.”

Udemy is a leading destination for learning and teaching online, with over 185K courses and 49 million learners worldwide. Udemy Business, Udemy’s enterprise learning solution, works with more than 10,500 enterprise customers. Udemy courses are taught by real-world experts,  providing the tools that learners, instructors, and enterprises need to help them achieve their goals.

Udemy Vice President, EMEA, Bill O’Shea said, “As organizations continue to evolve and improve the way they upskill their teams, they are demonstrating their prioritization of retaining and developing great talent. We are proud to work with Stanbic Bank to improve the workplace learning experience. This partnership will help enable stronger outcomes for those on the platform, by streamlining their learning opportunities and improving the culture of learning at work.”

Stanbic Bank’s new collaboration with Udemy Business will help them unlock possibilities for their teams, by connecting their employees to the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a changing world. “These two learning platforms will give our staff a learning opportunity to enhance their career credentials and growth, job-ready certificates, advance their skills and knowledge. This is a candid prospect that will not only unlock possibilities for staff but will also broaden their minds and explore other avenues by studying at their own time. 250 licensed staff will have an opportunity to study any programme of their choice for a full year,” concluded Balopi.
