Stanbic Bank Botswana is honoured to be recognised as Botswana's
Best Bank for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) by Euromoney. The
announcement was made at the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2024,
which was held on the 18 th of July 2024 in London at the Peninsula London Hotel.
This accolade underlines Stanbic Bank Botswana's commitment, through its Social,
Environmental and Economic (SEE) agenda, towards sustainability and a dedication to
driving positive impact within the community and beyond. Stanbic Bank has as such
delivered milestone transactions and support for clients, notably Wilderness Safaris and
Norsad Capital. These transactions were strongly underpinned by sustainability
principles and an overall drive toward fostering a sustainable future.
Stanbic Bank served as sustainability structuring agent and lender to Wilderness
through providing a bespoke and first of its kind conservation financing solution geared
towards supporting Wilderness’ impact framework and helping protect 2.3 million
hectares of land.
Stanbic Bank jointly provided African private debt financier, Norsad Capital Limited, with
a ZAR680 million 6-year sustainability-linked funding to assist with its growth ambitions
and impact investment goals. Stanbic served as co-arranger, lender and joint
sustainability coordinator in the transaction, working closely with Norsad to align
sustainability key performance indicators (KPIs) to the financing solution.

In addition to this achievement, Standard Bank Group, received a clean sweep of 16
accolades, including Africa’s Best Bank. Euromoney awarded Standard Bank the best
bank in Africa overall and the continent's leader in categories including Wealth
Management, Advisory, and Financing.
Additionally, The Banker, a renowned publication owned by the Financial Times, also
ranked Standard Bank as the best-performing bank in Africa including South-Africa,
overall, in its Top 1000 Banks 2024 rankings.
